What to expect post treatment:

After the first treatment, skin will often feel tighter and look fresher. The increase in collagen induction begins within 48hrs of treatment. However it usually takes at least 4 weeks for superior results to be seen. The results will continue to improve for 3-12 months after the treatment as a whole new collagen matrix is formed within the skin. The new collagen laid down should last for a period of 5-7 years making micro-needling a very long lasting treatment. The collagen induction will usually result in a decreased appearance of lines and wrinkles and an increase in the firmness of the skin. Depending on what area or concern is being treated, there should also be a reduction in visible scar tissue, reduced signs of UV damage, tightening of the skin and reduced skin laxity.

What is Skin-Needling/Micro-needling?

Skin-needling is the penetration of the skin by very small needles using a stamp type tool. The stamp contains up to 50 needles. Also known as collagen induction therapy, the penetration of the needles at a certain depth creates micro trauma and this initiates the wound healing response. During the wound healing process new collagen is produced and old misaligned collagen is broken down and removed by the body. This is particularly important when dealing with scar tissue and stretch marks. Over the next few weeks a new collagen and elastin matrix is created and this continues for up to several months. This new matrix will start to thicken the skin and improve skin texture giving the skin a fresher and more youthful glow.

We recommend leaving 4-6 weeks in between treatments to maximise the results of this treatment.

What can Micro-needling benefit?

Micro-needling can be used in a variety of ways and tailored with other treatments such as dermaplane, LED Light Therapy and various skin products and clinicare serum cocktails to improve the appearance or texture of your skin or reduce scar tissue caused by burns, acne, stretch marks or even self-harm. A treatment plan will be discussed and put into place depending on your needs and desired outcome.

Facial Rejuvenation

The increase in collagen and elastin will help to tighten skin, and thicken skin too, reducing and preventing the thinning of skin due to the ageing process. Fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed and relaxed, enlarged pores reduced in size and skin luminosity restored.

Scars

Skin-needling has really great success at reducing the appearance of scars. It will work equally as well of hypertrophic (raised scars) and atrophic (sunken scars) scar tissue, however those with a history of keloid scarring will not be able to have this treatment.

Stretch Marks

This treatment works great on the silver, pink or red lines that stretch marks create for various reasons. Stretch Marks will take a number of treatments and time to see results however the results are quite impressive.

Hyper-Pigmentation and Age Spots

The causes of hyper-pigmentation are complicated however micro-needling is believed to break down the pockets of melanin which cause hyper-pigmentation normalising the areas of concern. It is also a safer treatment than IPL skin rejuvenation or micro-dermabrasion which can cause heat friction to the skins surface causing further hyper-pigmentation or pigment loss.

Acne

Micro-needling can be used to increase the absorption of the products used that benefit acne, making this a highly effective treatment for acne. The treatment must be performed in between outbreaks or around active areas to avoid spreading the bacteria.

Enlarged Pores

Using a stamping technique to increase circulation to the area of large pores, overtime this reduces the size of the pores. The micro-needling improves the texture of the skin and inducts collagen to that area and so reduces the size and appearance of the large pores.
